Pennridge Fish Organization, Inc. Expands Operations In Perkasie PA.

The Pennridge FISH Organization, Inc., a nonprofit located in the heart of Perkasie, serves nearly 700 economically-challenged households in the Pennridge School District with emergency food, clothing, and financial assistance.  Their mission is to assist in the alleviation of hunger, poverty, and homelessness in the community. The acronym FISH stands for Fellowship in Serving Humanity.

FISH operates a food pantry and clothing outlet at 8th Street & Chestnut Street, with donations coming from local churches, businesses, social organizations and individuals.  FISH offers limited Emergency Financial Assistance as a bridge to help clients when crises arise in their lives.  Additionally, they offer summer lunches, in July and August, school bags/ supplies in August, and in December, a Christmas assistance Program providing holiday food, toys, gift cards, and coats/hats/gloves/scarves to those in need. In 2024, FISH supplied more than 400,000 lbs. of food to hungry households, distributed 2,000 bags of clothing, and assisted 104 households with emergency financial assistance.

While not a church, Pennridge FISH was founded in 1972 by the efforts of Trinity Lutheran Church in Perkasie, PA, with help from the Pennridge Ministerium. The FISH organization was created to address the need for more resources to serve the Pennridge community.    Representatives from many of the Pennridge churches attended the first meeting in 1972. FISH is a Christian-founded organization which has been an integral part of the community for decades, and in recent years, need for its services has been on the rise.

After starting out in a small back room at Trinity Lutheran Church it soon moved to the Samuel Pierce Library on 6th Street (now apartments). FISH later expanded to a larger facility at 5th Street and Callowhill Rd.  In 2013, FISH relocated to 800 West Chestnut St. in Perkasie where current operations remain. As the demand for the services FISH provides increases each year, so does the need for additional space to more efficiently and effectively fulfill their mission to serve the Pennridge community. In response to these growing needs, Pennridge FISH recently acquired the building next to the existing facility where their Christmas and School Bag programs will now be held along with other future organizational events.
